Thank You Georgetown Fellows!

BY: Anina Hewey

Fabretto has established a partnership with Georgetown University McDonough School of Business, which enables undergraduate business school students to intern in the summer with Fabretto in Nicaragua.

Georgetown McDonough Undergraduate Dean Norean Sharpe started this new partnership with Fabretto “to provide opportunities for students to contribute their business skills to a nonprofit that was having an impact – and to gain a global perspective on the needs for social enterprise.”

The 2013 Fabretto Fellows were Courtlyn Cook, Stephanie Messenger and Chris Onorato, who spent 5 weeks in early summer working on a range of projects including cost analysis and modeling for current and future programs and investment opportunities and a comprehensive volunteer handbook. The Fellows traveled to multiple Fabretto Education Centers for research and integrated well with coworkers in Nicaragua. They also enjoyed visiting several regions of beautiful Nicaragua from coastline to volcanoes and historic Granada.

Chris Onorato reflected, “Fabretto offered us the incredible opportunity to apply business skills to a great cause, while going out of their way to ensure that we were integrated into and enjoyed Nicaraguan culture while traveling throughout country both for work and pleasure. We are all excited to remain involved upon our return to the Hilltop. Thanks Fabretto!”
