This year, Fabretto launched our hands-on youth agricultural training program, recently renamed Captec, in 8 communities of Honduras in partnership with two local partners – ACOES and E2E.
We began with a diagnostic assessment of community needs, then selected and trained course facilitators in a hands-on training program that covered all of the course content and our learning-by-doing approach in the rural environment.
In 2023, 180 youth graduated from the program, with over 95% of the students who began the course earning a certificate. One of those students is Oscar, who you’ll meet in this video. He is a student in ACOES’s alternative secondary education program at the San Cayetano school.
This year, Oscar enrolled in the Fabretto Captec course to improve his skills in agriculture and literacy, mathematics, and soft skill development. He and his classmates learned organic production techniques by creating agricultural plots at their school and their homes, producing – and even selling – the fruits of all their hard work during the course, like cabbage, tomatoes, and more.
Meet Oscar and hear about his experience in the course:
Help us double – or more – the number of youth in Captec next year and bring the program to youth in Guatemala. Donate to our Youth Development program today.
