Our US Office has Moved!

BY: Adam Carrico

Hello, wonderful Fabretto supporters! My name is Adam Carrico and I am one of the employees representing Fabretto in the United States office. We have been located in Northern Virginia for a number of years, but our offices have recently moved into the big city of Washington, D.C.!

Since we are now in a new location, we thought it would be appropriate to give you all a tour of our new space. We could not be more excited about our new shared workspace in the Wonderbread Factory, run by WeWork, that houses dozens of other offices. We have already been able to connect with other organizations doing similar work. I even just helped someone originally from Diriamba, Nicaragua carry boxes of cookies up to their office!

Our day normally starts in this beautiful common area, where we can start with a cup of coffee (or two or three…) and enjoy the sun shining through our huge windows. It isn’t Nicaraguan sunshine, but we’ll take it! This week has been particularly exciting because Ally and I get to work with Chrissy and Emily in person instead of over phone calls to prepare for our DC Night for Niños event.

As the day moves on, we typically move over to our desks to get a little more focused. This week I have been playing with numbers on spreadsheets, doing some financial analysis, and writing this blog post! Meanwhile, Ally has been hard at work preparing event materials and getting to know some of our amazing donors. There are old-fashioned phone booths set up around our office so that we can have a quiet space when talking to our supporters or colleagues in Managua.

After working at our desks for a while and maybe enjoying the outside patio for some lunch in the uncharacteristically beautiful February weather, we might move to another space to mix it up a bit.

As a team, we are beyond thankful for our new space. We have already seen an increase in positivity, energy, productivity, and overall good vibes. In addition, something we consider to be most important, we are saving money that we can now transfer down to our programs in Nicaragua. At the end of the day, anything we can do to allow more money to enhance our education centers, nutritional programs, and generally anything that supports the incredible youth of Nicaragua is our main goal.

Thanks for learning a little bit about the work of the US office. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has ever supported Fabretto. Any time you are in the DC area, make sure to let us know and we can show you around! We wouldn’t be able to do any of this without your generous, selfless support.
