Alberto Runs the Madrid Marathon for Fabretto

BY: Anina Hewey

Alberto Moreno, volunteer and Vice President of Fabretto Spain, ran the Rock ‘n’ Roll Madrid Marathon to support children in Nicaragua.

He raised over 700 Euros for Fabretto education and nutrition programs, thanks to the generosity of friends and family who supported him as he challenged himself to complete the 26.2 mile course. The funds he raised can provide school lunch for 1,120 children (enough to feed a classroom of 25 with nutritious meals for two months). In an informal interview, Alberto answered a few questions about his race:

How did you decide to run for the children Fabretto supports in Nicaragua? The whole idea began when I was inspired to combine two of my passions: running and supporting education in Nicaragua with Fabretto.

Can you describe this challenge for us? Do you feel you reached your goals? As an amateur runner, I don’t compete against anyone. It’s a personal challenge, to see if you can cross that finish line. I’m proud to have achieved my goal and reaching the finish line after 42 km (26.2 miles) of effort.

What do you hope to do with the money you raised? All of the funds I raised will go straight to Fabretto’s programs in Nicaragua.

Would you run again for Fabretto? Of course, I love representing Fabretto wherever I go.

Why is it important to fundraise? It’s important for everyone to support the causes they believe in. Overcoming challenges and working toward a better future are some of Fabretto’s core values.

Thank you to Alberto for taking the initiative to fundraise for Fabretto and all those who supporting his campaign!
