When you think about “light” this holiday season, you might picture candles flickering in your living room, streets full of decorations, or the glow of gathering with people you love.

For Fabretto, light also looks like something else: a child who can concentrate in class because they’ve had a hearty meal at school, thanks to our MannaPack initiative. A young girl who, through our CaTec program, discovers a love for science in her school garden. A teenager excited to explore ideas to alleviate his community’s lack of water access through our Fabretto Innova program. And a young bright-eyed boy, illuminated with the new books in his school’s new library.

Light Across Borders is the name we’ve given to something our donors already do: let their care travel across countries, languages, and borders so that children and youth in Central America can learn, grow, and dream.

Across Guatemala and Honduras, Fabretto works with local partners to strengthen three essentials in rural communities:

• Education: Learning spaces, such as literacy programs and computer labs, where children spark their curiosity and teachers provide quality learning.
• Nutrition: School meal programs, including fortified MannaPack foods from our partner Feed My Starving Children (FMSC), so children can learn with energy instead of hunger.
• Youth Empowerment: Programs like Fabretto Innova, where youth use Design Thinking to turn their ideas into projects that benefit their own communities.

None of this happens alone. Fabretto walks alongside incredible organizations rooted in their territories, such as Seeds for Progress, Talita Kumi, Xch’ool Ixim, and many others, who know their communities from the inside. Donors help weave this network together so resources, training, and support can reach the classrooms, kitchens, and communities where they are needed most.

This season, Light Across Borders is an invitation to pause and remember that small acts of generosity can travel a very long way. A monthly gift that funds school meals.
