Project Overview
In September 2024, Fabretto wrapped up a major project with our local partner BAYAN in Honduras, financed as Project HO-326 by the Inter-American Foundation with counterpart funding from other generous donors over the past two years.
Together with community members and leaders of the Sistema de Aprendizaje Tutorial program, Fabretto and BAYAN collaborated to strengthen SAT through three different components: (1) Technology Integration & Improvement of STEM Learning in SAT; (2) Expansion of the Gender Equity Program in Honduras; and (3) Institutional Strengthening of BAYAN and its capacity to share out its impact.
Project Impact
Project HO-326 directly trained 383 individuals from September 2022 to September 2024. Some of the project’s achievements include:
Component 1: Technology Integration & STEM Learning
- Training 131 teachers in technology integration
- Equipping 38 schools with technology kits to enable offline learning, reaching more than 2,200 youth
- Training 91 youth in entrepreneurship and supporting 17 youth-led businesses
- Distribution of mobile laboratory kits to more than 50 schools
Component 2: Expansion of the “HEY!” Gender Equality Program in Honduras
- Increasing the reach of BAYAN’s gender equality program to 48 new schools (45% more than projected)
- Training 70 SAT tutors and leaders in the gender equality program
- Training and mobilizing 19 volunteers, graduates of SAT, to support the gender equality program and
- Distributing resources for student and parent education
Component 3: Institutional Strengthening
- Hosting a Regional Forum in May to raise awareness and support for rural education in Honduras
- Developing a custom online database to monitor indicators related to BAYAN’s programs
- Creating connections and opportunities for exchange with partners in Guatemala and Colombia
- Refreshing BAYAN’s logo and developing a communications brand book
