Comunidad Fabretto: United for Lasting Impact

BY: Wendy Gámez

At Fabretto, we believe that meaningful change happens when we walk together. This belief inspired the creation of the Comunidad Fabretto—a vibrant community united by the transformative power of education as the foundation for holistic human development.

More than a community, the Comunidad Fabretto is helping to build a movement for education in Central America, joining forces to expand opportunities and multiply hope for children and youth.

Who is the Comunidad Fabretto?

The Comunidad Fabretto is made up of organizations and allies who share our passion for education, equity, and sustainable development. They:

  • Work with historically underserved communities.
  • Maintain a long-term commitment to the people and places they serve.
  • Share Fabretto’s values and guiding principles.
  • Strengthen their impact through collaboration with Fabretto.
  • Build local capacities and actively exchange knowledge across the community.

Shared Values

What unites us is more than collaboration—it’s a shared vision rooted in values that guide our work:

  • Commitment to children and youth, always grounded in respect for local realities.
  • Social innovation that creates lasting, sustainable impact in rural and vulnerable contexts.
  • Transparency, trust, and horizontal collaboration among partners.

Building a Movement: The Comunidad Fabretto Gathering in Copán

In August, the Comunidad Fabretto came together in Copán, Honduras, for a historic regional gathering—a milestone in strengthening this movement for education.

The gathering’s General Objective was:
To facilitate collaboration and the exchange of knowledge and experiences among Fabretto’s partners, by creating spaces of mutual learning that contribute to institutional strengthening.

To achieve this, the event focused on three Specific Objectives:

  1. Facilitate dialogue and knowledge exchange among participants.
  2. Build capacity in a key technical area—measuring and communicating social impact.

Miguel Tello, a nonprofit consultant and long-time friend of Fabretto, shared his expertise in monitoring, evaluation, and communication of social impact through a workshop. The 30 participants had the opportunity to work collaboratively to explore ways to share impact with different audiences. Together, we learned about the power of storytelling, data, and images – and applied those principles to sharing stories from the communities where each organization works.

This gathering not only created spaces for learning and collaboration, but also reaffirmed the spirit of solidarity that defines the Comunidad Fabretto.
