With 3 albums as a leader, frequently commissioned works, many recordings as a sideman, and performances across the United States and Central America, Darwin Noguera is considered to be a rising star in the new generation of pianists in the Jazz & Latin idioms. Now based out of New York City, he draws from a range of influences including Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Danilo Perez, Bill Evans, Chucho Valdes & Bach. Darwin was born in Managua, Nicaragua. He moves through musical styles like a fish in water, employing equal prowess in composition, Jazz and Latin music. His latest project “Continuum Trio”, delves into the rich tradition of hymns & Spirituals, exploring the modern jazz harmonic and rhythmic possibilities. He also is the co-founder of CALJE: Chicago Afro-Latin Jazz Ensemble and regularly tours, giving performances and masterclasses at jazz festivals, theaters, and universities worldwide. Darwin has worked with NEA Jazz Masters such as Roy Haynes and Paquito D’Rivera, and legends such as Giovanni Hidalgo, Steve Turre, Howard Levy, Brian Lynch, Bobby Sanabria, John Benitez, Joel Frahm, among others.
