Inspired by the legacy of Padre Fabretto, the organization envisions a prosperous Nicaragua where all children and adolescents have meaningful opportunities to grow and learn, in communities that offer access to quality education, so that they may reach their full potential. For over 60 years, Fabretto has been building relationships within Nicaraguan communities in order to provide hope and a better future to the children and youth in need. Today, the organization serves over 40,000 children and youth through work in nine Fabretto Education Centers and over 400 local public schools.
Fabretto teacher training helps teachers to become the best version of themselves and improve the quality of education offered at public schools, as well as Fabretto-owned Education Centers. Gledys’ teacher, Nery, has been trained in play-based educational methodologies that have changed her students’ role in the classroom, from mere receptors of information to protagonists of their own learning. We believe teachers in Nicaragua have the power to help students living in poverty develop skills that can transform their own future, as well as the future of their society.
Fabretto implements parent workshops focus on nutritional, health and educational strategies to ensure children’s continuous learning and development at home. Gledys’ mother, Lorgia, volunteers to cook meals at her daughter’s primary school. For many of the children in attendance, this will be their only full meal of the day. We are convinced that parent engagement is the way to achieve the creation of nurturing environments that allow children living in poverty to truly thrive.
Fabretto engages supporters around the world with our mission through one-time and long-term giving experiences. For just $1 a day, Gledys’ child sponsors ensure she has access to trained teachers, school supplies, nutritious daily meals, and the hope of a better future. We trust in the power of giving to create a lasting change in a child’s life through education while allowing children in Nicaragua to dream big.
