Granada

Founded in 1524, Granada enjoys the distinction of being the oldest colonial city in the Americas that still remains in the same place of its foundation. Located on the shores of Lake Nicaragua, it is home to multiple Spanish colonial landmarks that have survived repeated pirate invasions. The city’s main square, the central park, is dominated by the colorful, neoclassical facade of the Cathedral of Granada.
