Helene was born and raised in Germany. After over 8 years of living, working and studying in various countries across the world, she came to Nicaragua in March of 2018. After a brief period at a local NGO fighting food waste and supporting vulnerable communities across Managua, she joined Fabretto as the English Grant Writer. Inspired by the long history of the organization in Nicaragua, Helene was excited to join a team of dedicated staff, learn more about Nicaragua and its people, and contribute with her knowledge and skills.
As an undergrad at Rotterdam School of Management back in 2015, she joined the I WILL Campaign, a community of students, alumni, and faculty members who hold themselves accountable to become leaders of change in the world of tomorrow. Back then she made the bold statement “I WILL enable more people to benefit from economic development.” Today, she is making it happen, supporting some of the most vulnerable communities in Nicaragua with her passion, enthusiasm, and expertise in project and program development.
In her current role as Grants Manager, she leads project development, develops proposals, engages with current and potential donors, and ensures timely reporting and communication with partners and donors. She works closely with the CEO and the Director of Programs to drive positive change and deliver meaningful and sustainable education and agricultural development programs.
Helene holds a BSc in International Business Administration from Rotterdam School of Management and a MSc in Business, Language and Culture with a focus on Business and Development Studies from the Copenhagen Business School. She brings international experience from working on projects with the World Food Program and with the United Nations Development Program.
